Social media image sizes 2026: the complete cheat sheet
The right image sizes for Instagram, LinkedIn, X, Facebook, YouTube, TikTok and Pinterest in 2026, in one table, plus how to resize one image for all of them.
Every platform wants a different shape. Post the wrong one and your image gets cropped, letterboxed or blurred, usually cutting off the one thing you wanted people to see. Here's every size that matters in 2026, in one place.

Which sizes to prioritise
If you post the same visual everywhere, three shapes cover almost everything:
- Vertical 9:16 (1080 × 1920) for Stories, Reels, TikTok and Shorts.
- Portrait 4:5 (1080 × 1350) for Instagram and Facebook feeds, where it takes up the most screen space.
- Landscape 1.91:1 (1200 × 630) for LinkedIn, Facebook links, X and your website's share image.
Resize one image for every platform at once
Cropping the same image eight times in a design tool gets old. The image resizer does them all in one go.
- Drop your image into the resizer. It never leaves your device.
- Pick the sizes you need, grouped by platform.
- Fill and crop fills each shape completely. Drag any preview to choose which part stays in frame, and zoom if needed.
- Or choose Fit whole image to keep everything visible, filling the empty space with a soft blur of your photo or a solid colour.
- Download each size, or download all as a zip, in JPG, PNG or WebP.
Tips that save you from bad crops
- Keep text in the middle. Each platform crops slightly differently, and some overlay buttons or captions near the edges, especially on Stories, Reels and TikTok, where the top and bottom 15 to 20% are often covered.
- Start from the biggest, highest-quality image you have. Scaling down looks sharp; scaling up looks blurry.
- Check the profile grid on Instagram. Since 2025 the grid shows posts as 3:4 rectangles, so a 4:5 post gets slightly trimmed at the top and bottom in the grid view.
- Banners are seen at very different widths. LinkedIn and YouTube banners get cropped heavily on phones. Keep logos and text in a central safe area.
- Export at the exact size. Uploading a 6000-pixel photo lets the platform compress it its own way, often badly. Upload the size it wants.

Frequently asked questions
What is the best image size for social media in 2026?
There isn't one size for all. Use 1080 × 1350 for Instagram and Facebook feeds, 1080 × 1920 for Stories, Reels and TikTok, and 1200 × 627 to 1200 × 630 for LinkedIn and link previews.

1200 × 627 pixels for feed images and link previews, 1200 × 1200 for square posts, and 1584 × 396 for your profile banner.
What is the YouTube thumbnail size?
1280 × 720 pixels, a 16:9 ratio. Keep text large, since thumbnails are often seen very small.
